2 SD40-30 locomotives ready to go to Gabon

CIM, agent of EMD ProgressRail (Caterpillar Group) in Africa, has received two second-hand rehabilitated SD40-3 locomotives, refurbished and modernized in the ProgressRail Brazil plant located in Sete Lagoas (Minas Gerais).

Characteristics:

Standard track – 3000HP – 16 cylinders engine

These locomotives, recently withdrawn from operation in Brazil, have undergone a complete overhaul with OEM components in the workshops of ProgressRail, the original manufacturer.

They are equipped with LAF automatic couplers and a completely new ZEIT control system (allowing the complete monitoring of the machine).

These locomotives will be put into service in Gabon by the Société d’Exploitation du TransGabonais (SETRAG).

The loading of the locomotives onto trailers for road transport to the port has just taken place in mid-December 2022.

The arrival and commissioning in Gabon is scheduled for February 2023.
